Alone with God
The Augustine Center has a new option for those who feel called to a greater solitude from the world and for God. The hermitage was a building out in the back woods that was used by the Sacramentine Sisters for short retreats away from the main community. The site needed a significant overhaul as it hadn't been used in 2 or so decades.
One major drawback is the lack of a shower. I mention this at the outset because that could be a deal breaker for many.
Another potential deterrent is that the structure is over hundred yards from the main building and requires being able to walk this distance over somewhat rough/steep terrain.
During the winter months, it will be shut down.
There is a toilet, bathroom sink and kitchen sink. The whole structure is only 11 feet by 15 feet so it is quite small. You can see in the pictures below there is a small two burner stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, and microwave. There is a slider chair that can recline. The main desk can be folded down flat against the wall. On the wall to the left of the kitchen is a small wall-mounted, collapsible, surface that could be used as a table for eating meals too. The bed is twin sized.
If you feel God is calling you to this, give us a call.
PS - Very special thank you to Mike Baxter, Ray Carney and the Boyne City K of C for helping make this a reality.
